Grown best in fertile moist soil in full sun. Flowering stems develop from late Spring and carry heads of the familar lobbed blooms. Beloved of children for the way the mouth of the flower opens and closes with squeezing, hence the common name 'Snapdragon'. the seed itself is rich in oil, which in former times was extracted and used like olive oil.
