Herb Seed Variety Information

Savory

(Satureja hortensis)

Native to the Mediterranean, it was highly regarded by the Greeks & Romans for its aromatic, warm scent and its value in nutrition and healing. Use either fresh or dried leaves in cooking. Traditionally combined with beans, it is sometimes substituted for pepper.

A well-known folk remedy for bee stings is to rub the spot with fresh savory leaves after removing the sting. Sprigs of savory added to bath water will tone and refresh the skin.
